And was I pleasantly surprised.
Not only was the story interesting, I thought everything was quite original. Especially most of the jokes. Granted there weren't any laugh-out-loud moments, but the whole movie still had plenty of funny to be humourously entertaining.
This was far away from being a Stiller or a Murphy vehicle. Both these headliners didn't get their own screentime. And that was the beauty of it because they still shone, quietly. If they were any louder, it wouldn't have been this good.
Tea Leoni has been doing movies in much moderation and it's good to see her again, although she didn't really had too much to do.
The rest of the cast, Alan Alda, Michael Pena and Gabourey Sidebe, all provided good entertainment.
A few loopholes here and there but more importantly, there's a bit of lazy story-writing going on where the plot jumps from one to the next conveniently for the story; which is the reason why this movie didn't soar. And also, as mentioned, it wasn't hilariously funny so that was a little bit disappointing coming out of the movie.
Nevertheless, it was still very entertaining. Almost followed the footsteps of Ocean's Eleven had there been bigger names, and I don't know if Ratner tried to bringthat same flair. but it didn't. And I don't know too if that's good or bad for the movie in its entirety. Definitely had potential to be better than a 7.
