Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows (6/10)

Guy Ritchie once again brought back this unique direction for this sequel and it was much appreciated. I thought it brought something that was only Sherlock Holmes and no one else.

The cast once again delivered with great chemistry and commitment. New additions like Stephen Fry, Noomi Rapace and Jared Harris all were very competent in their roles.

However, the story itself was less entertaining as the first movie. And also less easy to follow too. I thought the whole thing got carried away so much so that even the writers got confused as to how to tell the story properly.

The action sequences, especially chase scenes through the forest with bullets flying everywhere, were brilliantly done. However, I still remember vividly some scenes from the first movie that had more entertainment value than this one. Certain things, unfortunately, can only be done once and can only have a first impression.

The movie itself was also too long. Again, it felt more like the movie was indulging itself rather than entertain the audience even though there were a lot going on onscreen to capture the audience's attention. But when something is dragged on for too long, even a magic trick will lose interest.

As a whole, it was entertaining and it was well directed with a great cast. But it was also difficult to follow and comprehend, and the whole thing felt like half an hour too long.
