New Year's Eve (4/10)

I actually expected a slightly better movie than this. I didn't hate it, but it could have been something better.

In an hour-and-a-half movie, there were just too many sub-plots to have anything concrete to come out of it even though all stories were somehow tied to one another..

But I thought all the actors were okay with their performances, particularly for Sofia Vergara who seemed to steal the scene every single time she came onscreen; mostly stealing from Jon Bon Jovi who could have been better. I thought he was a bit rusty for being away from this craft for a fair bit.

What I disliked most was (of course) Lea Michele's singing. Her lack in vocal quality was very obvious when she did the duet with Bon Jovi. (Yes, I still don't know why Glee is so popular... Well, I get it but I just cannot agree.)

Also, how the movie ended could have been better as well as the final two that got together was expected but not delivered well. There wasn't any chemistry architectured through the storytelling or direction.

Only Zac Efron and Michelle Pfeiffer's storyline induced some inspiration and magic; but even then, most of the plot was forced and trite.

And finally, the whole thing could have just been funnier. As a movie of this genre, it just didn't quite cut it. So what if it's made for the holidays and just for the fun of it when sitting through it wasn't that fun at all.
