Magic Mike (7/10)

Arguably the best acting performance by Channing Tatum so far.

The story was a solid write, though it was somewhat predictable, as far as this kind of a genre goes.

One thing that I really appreciated was Steven Soderbergh's directing. True to his flair, he knew exactly how to make something like this entertaining. And as for all the male dancing and stripping, he made it entertaining and never a moment that would have put off any male audience. And definitely never a moment of boredom, that's how good the dances were.

Also, having Tatum do many a solo act was brilliant as that's one of his best assets. After all, this was how Tatum started his career. And this story was somewhat inspired by his story too.

But this movie was as much a Channing Tatum movie as it was Matthew McConaughey's or Alex Pettyfer's. The story centred among these three's characters and it was very well told.

This wasn't the best from Soderbergh, not by a long shot. But it did bring out the best in Tatum, and perhaps also Pettyfer.
