David Koepp, more of a writer than a director, took up both roles this time and I thought he did really well in showing off New York city and its busy streets. Even the digitally created images looked informative and interesting.
Under his direction, Michael Shannon provided a great performance as the dirty cop. Wole Parks made the audience want to slap him in the face and Dania Ramirez and Jamie Chung provided the softer side of things.
One thing that I really disagreed with this movie was towards the end in the escape, Gordon-Levitt's character found one of those X-Games' bicycle and did some tricks to make his get-away, with cracked ribs. I honestly didn't think in that condition he was in, he could have achieved what he did.
This wasn't a fantastic performance by Gordon-Levitt, nor would it be memorable, but it definitely was something different; and that's probably why he did it.
I myself have never seen these riders before or know of their existence so it was something interesting to learn as well.
