Red Lights (6/10)

This had a great concept. It reminded me a lot of The Prestige with its style, plot and storyline. Writer and director Rodrigo Cortes had a great idea here; however, the end result left me wanting a bit more.

Furthermore, it had a strong backing from a great cast. I haven't seen Sigourney Weaver put in this much acting in recent past and this once again showcased how strong an actor she is. Robert DeNiro added the flair and the little nuances that only he knew how. Cillian Murphy was still Cillian Murphy, I haven't seen anything better out of him yet but still, whatever he's doing is still great.

I don't know why I find Elizabeth Olsen so familiar though. But I think the cinema here has deleted some scenes that told hers and Murphy's story.

There was a short scene with just Murphy and DeNiro in a small room and only DeNiro was talking, I thought that was such an intense scene and really built-up very properly by Cortes; together with the fine acting from both actors. I was breathless.

However, in the end I thought the movie strayed on for a little too long. And I would have liked a much simpler ending that didn't come with too much of the supernatural. But then again, that's just what I wanted.

But as far as Cortes' direction and style of writing went, I thought it was really good and I was quite entertained.
