Wreck-It Ralph (8/10)

One of the more original animated cartoon concept to date, plus this had a brilliant storyline as well.

The messages that kept spilling out, if you're aware, were from start to finish. Reminded me of the story of the well-frog and the ocean-frog. As we limit ourselves to what we know, then we will never really know our limits. And this is what the story of Ralph was. Not just from Ralph, Vanellope too taught us many life lessons about believing in oneself and never giving up.

Comparing to The Rise Of The Guardians, this one featured the voice-talents of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Ed O'Neill, Mindy Kaling, Jane Lynch and Jack McBrayer. Mostly television actors. And yet, it's a much better film than the all-star cast of the former.

There is more of a richness to the artwork too. There was a distinct ambience change when the story moved from the computer game, to the world of the game characters, and then to the dark and dangerous and finally the sweet and poppy. All of which were created beautifully.

And it's always great to see so many of our favourite characters brought to life on the silver screen. That's always a plus.

I definitely welcome the sequel to this, where Mario will be brought to life as well.
