The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (8/10)

If I were to compare the first Fellowship Of The Ring with this one, I would have to say that the characters in the aforementioned were more diverse, and hence more interesting.

Here we only have the dwarves. Unfortunately for me I never cared much for dwarves, they just don't interest me. So needless to say, the beginning didn't interest me very much.  That's why I thought the first half of the movie a bit too long.

Luckily there was still Martin Freeman and his wonderful performance as Bilbo Baggins. I have been enjoying his take on Dr. Watson in Sherlock and I thought his performance here was even more wonderful.

Throughout the movie there were minor things that I didn't like. Especially like how none of our heroes could never be hit by a projectile from the enemy. And when none of our heroes were warriors, no orcs nor trolls seemed to be too much for them to handle.

And I was wondering why sometimes some of our heroes were left to live and not killed straight away by their enemies. But oh well, that's how the book was written I guess.

However, that final sequence that never seemed to end was very thrilling and exciting. At first I thought they might be pushing it a little but at the end of it all, it was just right and finished the movie very nicely.
