To be fair, there were a lot of good about it. First of all, the ecstasy to see these characters back for seconds. The colours were as vibrant as ever, and technically nothing was wrong about it.
But with the originality from the first one still looming vividly in my mind, here we have the prequel where the characters were going (back) to college; the premise already has lost points in originality. Because sure enough, with the setting of a college came all the cliche of the cool kids versus the unpopular outcasts. Nothing here was original.
And personally I didn't like how the final "scare" turned out, a bit anti-climactic to be honest.
What I did like, however, was some parts of the overall story. Especially the message of team work and be true to who you are, those were written very well into it. I also liked how the story didn't cop out when Billy Crystal's Mike had to really face the music.
One other thing I found really interesting was that when these characters were at their college years, all the main voice actors like John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, as well as Helen Mirren, were all above 50 years of age.
Was it a good movie? Yes, sure, why not? But was it a worthy successor? I cannot lie, so no. Plus, the 3D did nothing for the movie.
