The Heat (5/10)

What this movie lacked was originality. We've seen Sandra Bullock as a tough cop having to undergo a change before (Miss Congeniality), and there's no difference to Melissa McCarthy's role here to most of her roles (such as Bridesmaids and the very recent Identity Thief).

Furthermore, this team-up also lacked originality and it's just a very generic Hollywood buddy cop movie. Predictable, that's a given. So it's up to the duo's onscreen chemistry and the comedic factor.

Sure, the chemistry kind of worked. Not the best out there, that's for sure. And the comedic factor wasn't able to save the entertainment factor as I had to fight drowsiness in a very warm theatre. There were some very good funny moments, sure; but those were very spread out. And most of the time, the pair seemed to be the only ones having fun; which didn't translate as well to the audience.

And that sudden change in personality in Bullock's character towards the end happened too suddenly to be believable; almost like an on-off switch.

I found it quite strange that Bullock would agree to do this movie. It's unchallenging for her and nothing fresh about the whole thing.
