The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones (6/10)

I am not sure I get all the hype surrounding this release. Then again, I didn't get Twilight too.

And what's with teenage novels these days? Must there be a love triangle (or more) going on for it to be interesting? I don't get this too.

Anyway, this first instalment of The Mortal Instrument was almost interesting. Interesting in the sense that we were getting to know the characters and what the story was all about. The second instalment would have to do much better in terms of writing and pacing and storytelling, and of course the script which was way too cheesy.

The acting was much better than Twilight (I'm sorry but that's my only reference). The premise also more interesting with these different powers that reminded me of witchcraft.

However, a lot of loopholes and unexplained situations; many involving the werewolves and I shall not bother going into.

The ending was trying to sum up too much information, detail and characters that it wasn't done well enough to be enjoyable.

Lily Collins was tolerable here as I didn't really like her in anything else. But I enjoyed Jonathan Rhys Meyers' performance. The rest of the cast, not much to say about.
