This is the Disney animated movie that I've been waiting for the past 10 years! And I was taken by surprise. I haven't even heard of this movie until now. And it took me on a magic carpet ride right from the beginning.
I'll admit first, the beginning wasn't set up completely without flaw. Like why keep the powers a secret to that extent? But my question stops here.
I don't know why Disney hasn't made anything like Aladdin or Beauty And The Beast, where there was a mixture of song and dance and storytelling. It did come a little close with Tangled back in 2010 but Frozen was full blown musical.
Maybe because of the recent success of Les Miserables but then again, there were many other musical movies that has won Oscars much earlier. So I'm really curious as to why now for Disney.
I'll admit again, there wasn't that big romantic number shared by the two love interests. But understandably so (if you have seen it).
I'm also glad that I didn't know who were voicing the characters, or singing, so that I didn't have to keep picturing Kristen Bell speaking. Then again, she's the only big name in the whole movie. And the only voice that was obvious was Josh Gad's, but he was phenomenal playing Olaf the snowman.
The songs too were all brilliant and funny and moving. I can't wait to play the soundtrack again.
As for the story development, I barely saw the twists coming. The whole thing was done so nicely that I was just engrossed in the storytelling. It's not an original story, but it's not a typical one either.
Frozen definitely helped save the animation movie category for the year 2013. This is my favourite to win the Oscars in a couple of months.
