The Counsellor (6/10)

Ridley Scott has directed some great movies in the past. But his last two, Robin Hood and especially Prometheus, weren't good.

And though The Counsellor was better than Prometheus (which I still have no idea why he directed such a bad movie), it was still flawed massively.

But with all the flaws, none of them belonged to the star-studded cast. All of them great great performances under Scott's direction.

However, there were more than a few times when parts of the dialogue just lost me completely. I don't know why the writer chose some of those convoluted lines which just didn't sit well with the the conversation, with some big words strung together that needed a few moments to let them sink in to understand. So that was just a bad move.

As for the story progression, the storytelling never made it clear what Michael Fassbender's character was aiming for until well into the middle. Either that or the story really lost me right from the beginning.

And the ending wasn't something I agreed with too. I thought Scott could have tidied up the ending better. But at least the cast made the movie watchable. And it is still a Ridley Scott directed movie which holds up to a level of standard.
