Terminator: Genesis Casting

(Picture sourced from nydailynews.com)

Fans of the Terminator franchise would have known by now that Emilia Clarke was the biggest name before today to have been confirmed for the next sequel that is to be out in 2015.

Today, Jai Courtney has also been confirmed to be joining Clarke, as well as Jason Clarke (no relations to Emilia), as Arnold Schwarzenegger reprise his most iconic and popular role in cinema history.

Jai Courtney is no stranger to action flicks as his body has already been carved that way. We last saw him doing a respectable job in the critically disappointing A Good Day To Die Hard, the horrible I, Frankenstein and the lukewarm Jack Reacher. He was also in the first season of Spartacus. This time, he will take up the character Kyle Reese.

As for the Terminator franchise, I kind of liked Terminator Salvation with Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Bryce Dallas Howard and Anton Yelchin. I would have liked to see a direct sequel to that. The failure of that movie wasn't in the cast, so much as in the writing as that was quite a boring movie.

The premise of Genesis isn't clear just yet. But with Jason Clarke portraying John Connor, I would guess it's a few years at least after Salvation. But then again, Emilia Clarke will be portraying Sarah Connor and she's considerably younger than Jason Clarke so the age difference is all wrong.

So who knows what the time travelling this time will affect the story? An older John Connor travelling back in time with an older Kyle Reese and an older version of the Terminator (because of an older Schwarzenegger) to save a younger version of Sarah Connor is my guess. But I'm bad at guessing so...
