Since everything is so awesome for The Lego Movie (a sequel was already announced even before the first one was released), now Warner Bros. has officially blocked off the date 26 May 2017.
WB will not be using the existing screenplay writers but chose to go with Michelle Morgan and Jared Stern (both of whom do not really have huge experience with animated movies before). Not that I do not have any confidence in the duo but maybe WB is only using them to develop a first draft. We'll see.
I was actually hoping for a 2016 release date. I didn't expect them to take a whole 3 years to do it but probably the CGI would have been even more awesome by then.
Also, not surprising that the sequel is going to be released as a summer movie. Awesome.
