Marvel and Kevin Feige have a roadmap of their plans for the superhero movies all the way to the year 2028. Am I surprised? No. Ever since the Iron Man franchise, they have shown that they have a solid team delivering solid plans and achieving solid results year after year.
It's only natural that at this point in time they would have phase 4, phase 5 and even up to phase 10 all jotted down on a piece of paper. They would already have a plan of all the characters that would be coming up over the next decade but they just haven't announced.
We already know Ant Man is coming, Doctor Strange is in the works, and even the Black Panther is in the rumour mill.
They might even have some plans for Daredevil and Ghost Rider now that the rights are back to Disney. And who knows what other third tier characters like Guardians Of The Galaxy are on the horizon?
Businessweek released an article a few days ago with a very well-written, short history of how Marvel and Disney came to be. And I am super impressed with the way Kevin Feige has built up the studio that is the Marvel empire thus far.
He is a man with a clear vision and great in-depth understanding of storytelling based on superheroes. It doesn't hurt that he's a comic book fan. He's admitted to be going through piles of comic books as research. (How fun of a job is that?)
In the eyes of the fans, Feige is our superhero. He has not taken a wrong step so far. And with the recent amazing critical and fan feedback for Captain America: The Winter Soldier and how great the first trailer for the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy looked, Feige is proof that the way Marvel has set up their studio, works.
So much so that Kevin Feige is even recognised on the red carpet, even in Seoul...? (Unless I'm wrong to assume that picture above was in Seoul.)
So again I ask, DC and Warner Bros., what are you doing? You can't even get the release date for your next Superman film right. The only thing I would applaud you so far is the secret casting of Ben Affleck that you have managed keep under wraps successfully.
But as a comic fan and film fan, I cannot be more disappointed with the delay for Man Of Steel 2. By one whole year. Even something as humongous as Star Wars Episode VII was only delayed half a year.
This is why I'm still such a fan of Disney to this day.
