Star Wars VII Cast!

The most amazing photograph I have seen in a while from the world of movie news.

The cast of Star Wars Episode VII has been announced to the public. Finally!

And the photo shows the cast, both returning and new, perhaps doing a reading before their filming begins. Nothing is more satisfying to see Ford in this picture (there was always that chance that he would deny the role), and the rest of the cast with J. J. Abrams talking about Star Wars Episode VII. And we know it's really Star Wars because R2-D2 is also present!

Returning cast members include Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa Solo), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C3-P0), Kenny Baker (R2-D2), and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca). But where's Billy Dee Williams for Lando Calrissian?

The newcomers onboard for at least Episode VII are;

Oscar Isaac - The biggest name of the lot, and one of the biggest names from last year's Oscar contention, Isaac had a great performance in Inside Llewyn Davis and was also in The Bourne Legacy.

Adam Driver - Also from Inside Llewyn Davis, but Driver would be most recognised for his current work in HBO's Girls series.

John Boyega - His most notable film was the runaway Brit-hit, Attack The Block.

Daisy Ridley - I only know her from Mr. Selfridge series, and she'll be in the upcoming Scrawl movie.

Andy Serkis - Another more recognisable name, Serkis has been amazing as Gollum from The Lord Of The Rings series and as Caesar from the rebooted Planet Of The Apes franchise.

Max von Sydow - A veteran and twice nominated for an Academy Award, Sydow was most well-known for his role in The Exorcist. He also appeared in Minority Report, Robin Hood and Shutter Island.

Domhnall Gleeson - He was in the last two Harry Potter movies, but also Dredd. And more recently, About Time which was a nice little romantic movie in which he was great too.

Looking at this list, I'm not going to lie. I'm somewhat disappointed that some of the previously mentioned names were not included in the cast. My favourites were Chloe Grace Moretz and Benedict Cumberbatch who would have added a lot of strength to "padewans".

But at the same time, I'm glad to see Oscar Isaac in the fold as I've really enjoyed him in Inside Llewyn Davis.

Who knows though? Maybe there will be more names added on as we go along, and maybe Moretz and Cumberbatch will be in future films?

So with the picture above, Episode VII now feels more tangible and real. It is indeed coming. It's just a year and a half away till 18 December 2015!

May the Force be with them!
