Brick Mansions (4/10)

Paul Walker's last completed movie. How is it that his own movies are always so bad?

And this one was bad because I thought that this was going to be about parkour. But most of it was only in the opening sequence. The rest of the movie had so little left that it's like all parkour scenes were included in the trailer already.

The storyline is very similar to the original The Fast And The Furious. Walker being a cop had to pretend to be running from the law in order to befriend somebody who has a way in into a situation. There's no originality with the writing and the ending was just bad storytelling by Luc Besson.

I couldn't be sure how much fault was in the director, Camille Delamarre, when it came to the dialogue. When Walker and David Belle first met, Walker's character never used the word bomb and Belle's character used it in the next sentence. And they never introduced themselves so when Belle wanted to call out, I was expecting him to just say something like "hey" but he used Walker's name.

There were also a lot of corny lines and cheesy scenes that failed to be cool. Like RZA being a cook was nothing more than a cliche'd attempt at being sophisticated. It was a stretch.

So, being Walker's last movie, it was a pity that it was still of sub-par quality.
