Noah (8/10)

Darren Aronofsky kept the tone of the movie very consistent, very biblical. That's the word that kept coming back to my mind. It reminded me of old biblical movies like The Ten Commandments or that one with the parting of the sea (what's the title again? Or is it the same?).

To like this movie from the beginning wasn't easy. For a 2014 movie to look so old fashioned with the graphics was difficult to swallow, especially how fake The Watchers looked. But once you get over that, you might really enjoy the story like I did.

There was one part which I didn't like, which was when Logan Lerman ran off on his own to find what he wanted. And that part was just too easy, too fast, too silly even. And what followed, with throes of humans rushing in - that was too much, just from that little town; even if it's for dramatic effect.

But the third act was the best part of the movie. The way Russell Crowe and Ray Winstone's characters were creating questions for the viewers to ask ourselves, what's right and what's wrong. How they switched roles at some point was also a scary thought.

Great acting as well from Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson. Anthony Hopkins added a bit more with brevity.

A lot of messages and questions from this movie that really peaked my interest. I'm not one that's religious, I'm actually quite the opposite, but I love a good story when I see one; no matter how accurate this was.
