Bridge To Terabithia (8/10)

I cannot believe what I've just watched. This was supposed to be a kid's movie. How did it get so depressing and heart-wrenching by the end? It's crazy. This should be rated PG-13.

But it's a great story. Beautifully told and beautifully imagined. And so many lessons to learn, so many insights to be gained from just witnessing the behaviours and thoughts of the characters.

There's a great cast of kids too. This movie being 7 years old already, a lot of familiar faces that we know today were so young back then that it's shocking. Josh Hutcherson was just a boy back then. But this was probably his best work to date. Bailee Madison was even smaller. It's hard to believe she started so young in the business.

Zooey Deschanel and Robert Patrick also looked younger but played their parts well. And the best character of the movie was AnnaSophia Robb who captured the spirited and coolness of her character perfectly. Her portrayal was able to capture the hearts of the audience which was important for the emotional effect of the story. I'm surprised she's not any more famous today.

Conclusion, and fair warning, although it's 7 years too late, even though this was a kid's movie, it's not really meant for kids. And even though this was a kid's movie, it's still very much enjoyable by adults.
