Did anyone see this coming? I mean, sure, you wanted it to happen but judging from how much it costed and how much it made, the numbers weren't encouraging. Also, its studio Warner Bros. weren't enthusiastic about making a sequel, too.
So now, director Guillermo del Toro has announced that the sequel will happen and there is even a date set for it, 7 April, 2017. This time Legendary Pictures will team up with Universal Studios to produce the movie, Zak Penn is on writing duties.
No other details as of now, and no word yet on which characters will return to reprise their roles; but do we really care about that? It's the Jaegers battling the Kaijus we want.
But let's hope this time we get a better script than the original, or I won't like it again.
