The people over at Marvel (and affiliates, but mostly Marvel) must be having a blast. Three Marvel movies are currently sitting in the top 3 positions in terms of worldwide sales. And all 3 have surpassed the USD 700 million mark.
Still going strong is my favourite movie of the year so far, X-Men: Days Of Future Past, taking the top spot with USD 712 million. Second is the brilliant Captain America: The Winter Soldier, just trailing about USD 1 million behind X-Men. And rounding off the top 3 is Fox's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with USD 702 million.
Who would have thought? Comic book characters and their movies are taking over the world these days. Growing up as a comic book fan, I couldn't be happier because this means that for the next couple of decades at least, comic book movies will still get churned out.
Again, DC has a lot of catching up to do.
However, Transformers always have a knack of climbing all the way to the top of the box office, especially with the help of the international market. Also, there has been a lot of great reviews going around from movie reviewers who have seen Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. So these are the two summer movies left that could potentially cause an upset to Marvel's sitting at the top.
