Patrick Wilson Departs Ant-Man

In a not-so-good news, it has been revealed that Patrick Wilson will not be in the upcoming Ant-Man movie, which I'm still surprised they haven't begun shooting yet!

Currently being reported as a "conflict of schedule", I can't help but feel that this project, with the departure of Edgar Wright and Peyton Reed stepping in - which make no mistake is a huge step-down - is going in a direction where actors like Wilson didn't sign up for.

The result may still be fantastic later and Reed may surprise us all (a la Captain America: The Winter Soldier), but I'm a little surprise that this news didn't come much earlier.

Wilson wasn't the only one, actors Matt Gerard and Kevin Weisman have also departed but it was reported that their roles were cut from the latest rewrites.

We still don't know if this movie will be a full-on comedy but if you look at Wilson's resume, he's never really done Reed's kind of comedy either. But for him to leave a Marvel project then it must be a reason big enough.

The silver lining here is that with Wilson's calibre, he could return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe at a later date with a bigger role; rather than playing a supporting to a smaller-ish movie like Ant-Man.

Then again, is any Marvel movie "smaller-ish"?

But now it means that another casting call is in order.
