Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 Pushed To 2017
Does anyone still care about the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise? I don't.
But I must be in the minority? Because Disney is bringing the Pirates franchise back, now with a fixed release date of 7 July 2017 (three 7s in there for luck?).
Back in April, Jerry Bruckheimer has announced he was bringing back some of his older movies like Top Gun, Bad Boys and Beverly Hills Cop as sequels. Some projects are moving faster than others. And Pirates is the one that's getting a delayed treatment.
Scribe Jeff Nathanson, who's had some hits (Catch Me If You Can, The Terminal) and misses (Rush Hour 3), will be writing the screenplay for Pirates 5, while the directors for 2012's Kon-Tiki, Joachim Ronning and Espan Sandberg, will take the lead in this project that's also produced by Bruckheimer.
No word yet on who else will be returning other than the enthusiastic Johnny Depp.
