Ridley Scott is back and this time, it's an epic of biblical proportions.
Starring Christian Bale as Moses and Joel Edgerton as Rhamses, and a screenplay by Steve Zaillian who also wrote some big titles like The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Moneyball, American Gangster and Gangs Of New York.
Also in the movie is Sigourney Weaver, and we only saw a single shot of her in the teaser. But because of just that one shot, she really looked out of place in that wardrobe. She doesn't look Egyptian at all and there's no other context to prove otherwise.
Edgerton somehow fared a little bit better with the shaved head and tanned skin. Bale, well, he's still Bale; there's no way around that.
But this is also one of the issues people have with Hollywood, that they white wash everything. I'm sure if they tried hard enough, they could have found a suitable Asian to play these iconic characters.
Nevertheless, I will say this: The movie looks epic. There's a lot of CGI involved and I hope that Scott will deliver a movie that lives up to his name. The last good movie by Scott that I enjoyed was Body Of Lies and that was back in 2008. After that were Robin Hood, Prometheus and The Counselor which were all forgettable.
The movie will be released on 12 December 2014.
