DC Blinked! Batman v Superman Date Moved!

Many have suspected the clash between Marvel and DC wasn't going to happen. The shared release date of Captain America 3 and Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice was a terrible idea for both parties involved.

Nobody will come out as a winner in the larger sense since both movies will draw the exact same crowd, which in turn meant that the opening weekend box office was going to be split. No studio will come out triumphant.

Somebody has got to move their date and turns out, DC made the move. But their timing could have been better. With Guardians Of The Galaxy raking up such huge numbers already, fanboys may be saying that DC blinked primarily because of how well-received Marvel movies have become - even for an unknown property like Guardians. Whether or not that's true (I doubt it because they had to move it no matter what), it's not going to stop anyone speculating it.

And if it's not true, and if the whole thing was just a marketing ploy by DC, then unfortunately this is a lose-lose for them. The whole situation just doesn't look that great for them right now.

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice will now be released on 26 March 2016. And that makes sense for DC and Warner Bros. because the movie has started shooting. Captain America 3 has not. We're still just slightly over the midway point of 2014, there's no reason for Batman v Superman to take more than 1 whole year in post-production after shooting wraps (which I'm going to guess will be before Christmas this year).

If Warner Bros. wanted to, I'm sure they can even release the movie at the end of December of 2015. But then they would have to go up against Star Wars Episode VII. So I guess the next best thing would be March 2016.
