A Walk Among The Tombstones (6/10)

And here I thought it was Taken 4 because in the trailer his character looked just like the ones in Taken movies and Non-Stop. Part of me was glad that it's quite different but then, those characters would have been more fun.

An adaptation from Lawrence Block's novel, this was another slow-burn from start to finish. A crime drama-thriller that took its time to build up the plot but never culminated when it needed to.

But to watch Liam Neeson in these kinds of roles, he never disappoints even though there was nothing spectacular.

Scott Frank may be a great writer, having written for Minority Report, The Interpreter and The Wolverine. But as a director of his own work, he's just not up to par yet. His film lacked any hook to bait in the audience and create a satisfactory movie-going experience. Though I did appreciate his choice for adaptation and story, the result didn't quite deliver to the end.

For example, when Neeson's character put on his coat towards the end, it should have achieved some significance. But because that wasn't set up properly in the beginning, it didn't have any impact.

If Frank had taken 10 to 15 minutes off the running time, it may have been a better movie.
