Limitless (8/10)

Before Lucy, there was Limitless. Some have accused Luc Besson from stealing the concept of Limitless, but I'm sure the outcome would be much different.

Had Bradley Cooper achieved the success after Silver Linings Playbook, this movie would have been a much bigger hit because it was really well done.

Adapted from the Alan Glynn's novel by Leslie Dixon, the result was a satisfying thriller that was very well told by director Neil Burger. There was no doubt in the storytelling regarding how the drug worked. From the concept to the simple visual effects, Burger was a master in making the audience understand. And I thought that was most important.

Cooper showed that he had no trouble carrying a movie. He has the charisma and magnetism to do it. Especially when he's achieved the mental capability that unlocked the mind's potential, he was able to woo even the audience.

Abbie Cornish and Robert De Niro provided great support, especially De Niro who didn't just phone it in. I haven't seen such an intense performance from him in a while.

And I also loved the way the movie ended. It allowed for some, not many, but some thoughts that could lead into some interesting debate.
