Screen Gems has acquired the rights to two upcoming zombie movies, Pride And Prejudice And Zombies; and Patient Zero.
Unlike vampires, and probably thanks to the strong success of The Walking Dead TV series, zombies seem to still draw a good interest which would translate to some profit sharing.
One of Hollywood's fascination however is to mix monsters with a classic subject. Before Pride And Prejudice And Zombies there was the failed Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer. So now it will be Jane Austen with zombies.
Screen Gems are also recruiting the talents from Game Of Thrones stars.
Charles Dance and Lena Headey have signed up to join Lily James, Sam Riley, Matt Smith and Jack Huston in the literary adaptation while Natalie Dormer is set to take the female lead in Patient Zero - with a story about a survivor that is able to communicate with zombies.
I'm still going to accept new cool concepts like Warm Bodies for example that was executed well. As long as it's not a generic zombie movie, otherwise it could feel tiring just to go through the motion.
