Left Behind (3/10)
Nicolas Cage has released another movie to rival just how bad his Ghost Rider sequel was.
Left Behind is based on the very successful novel by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins about the last days on Earth, beginning with the Rapture. And that's what this movie was about. (Frankly, I'm very surprised that with its subject matter it was still brought in to Brunei.)
But the adaptation into a movie was just uninteresting. And coming from a director who has been working on big titles as a second unit director, Vic Armstrong did not seem to know how to make a movie interesting or engaging.
The first half of the story as the setup and backdrop was too slow and dead boring. Even with good actors in Nicolas Cage and Cassi Thomson, who shared quite good chemistry together, and also competent actors in Chad Michael Murray and Nicky Whelan; I didn't care about any of them.
The humour employed were flat, the sub-cast were not directed well and were equally flat in their performances. And when things were supposed to get tense, I was just waiting for the big finish.
And to think they actually hoped to make this into a franchise and yet this was how they started, I think it's safe to say that there will be no sequel.
