The Lego Movie Sequel Postponed For Lego Batman Movie

Another spin-off movie has been announced for the Lego universe, and this time it's Batman. After all the positive feedback on Will Arnett voicing Batman and how well that character came out to be from The Lego Movie, the producers have decided to develop Batman's own movie.

But strangely they have decided to push The Lego Movie sequel off of the previously announced 26 May 2017, to make way for the Lego Batman movie. Is that such a wise move though?

As it was, it will be 3 years after the original before the sequel comes out. In Hollywood years, that's one year too many already for a sequel. And now we don't even have a date for the sequel anymore.

And with the Ninjago movie still on schedule for 23 September 2016, The Lego Movie sequel will not likely be arriving earlier than 2018.

Taking on the director's role for Lego Batman will be Chris McKay, previously the animation supervisor for The Lego Movie and who was supposed to take over the sequel too. The Lego Batman script is currently being developed by Seth Grahame-Smith. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will still step in to produce.

Will Arnett will of course be back to voice Batman.

And with Batman v Superman releasing a year before Lego Batman, who knows what kind of jokes will be thrown in by then.
