Yes, Angry Birds the movie is indeed coming. Sony Pictures has bought the rights from Rovio Entertainment some time last year, and if you're a player of the game, you might have noticed this news announced on the app first. Here's a first look at the character designs.
Leading the voice cast will be Jason Sudeikis who seems to be blowing up as a brand name. Other cast members (which half of them are made up of Saturday Night Live stars) include Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, Kate McKinnon, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Keegan Michael Key, Ike Barinholtz and Peter Dinklage.
The release date of Angry Birds is scheduled to be 1 July 2016 - almost 2 years from now, a strangely far away date than I would have expected.
