From the very first scene as we saw the two leads, Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson, there's no way not to immediately see them as their characters, Coach and Nick, from New Girl TV series. Especially for Johnson, he didn't seem that far off from Nick throughout the entire movie.
This was a straight up silly comedy that didn't require any intelligence. What it did well was some hilarious gags that made me laugh. The chemistry between the two transferred well from the small screen to the big screen.
Having Nina Dobrev of The Vampire Diaries TV series fame didn't hurt at all. And having Rob Riggle played quite a big role was also a good thing as he expanded the plot with his character and did really well with his script.
But the best thing about this movie was Keegan-Michael Key's appearance. You can never have too much of Key (until we actually see how he does carrying a movie with Jordan Peele in their own movie). I thought he stole the scenes and made those the best parts of the movie.
If they expanded his role for a sequel, I would watch it. You'll see what I mean at the very end of the movie.
