Mark Wahlberg Is The Six Billion Dollar Man

The Six Million Dollar Man was a popular TV series that ran for 5 years from 1974 to 1978, about an astronaut who was severely injured and was given bionic implants that increased his human abilities. Much like the older version of Robocop. Hence, he was worth $6 million.

In this remake, obviously in our day and age, $6 million is nothing; so the title has been changed to become The Six Billion Dollar Man.

Mark Wahlberg is set to play the titular character, where, like the former, his legs, right arm and left eye will be bionically replaced and enhanced. He then becomes a powerful agent for the government.

The movie will be helmed by Peter Berg - whose previous movie, Lone Survivor, also had Wahlberg as the lead. I like Berg's direction and I think this will fit into his wheelhouse for a good balance of character development and awesome handheld action sequences.

Produced by The Weinstein's Dimension Films, the movie will go into production in 2015 for a 2016 release date.

Will we also get another remake of the 70's spin-off, The Bionic Woman, soon?
