The sleeper hit of 2012 is back with a sequel and is directed by cast member Elizabeth Banks, her biggest movie to date as an up-and-coming director.
Pitch Perfect 2 still features the main cast from the first movie including Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Skylar Astin, Adam DeVine, John Michael Higgins and Banks; with the addition of Hailee Steinfeld, David Cross and Katey Sagal.
And we'll probably (I'm just guessing) see some familiar faces from the reality competition for a capella groups, Sing-Off, seeing as this time the cast is headed off to the World Championships. It would only make sense to plug some of the homegrown a capella groups.
I enjoyed the first one somewhat. Not entirely as thrilled as everyone else though. I thought some of the jokes and one-liners were cheesy, predictable and lacked originality. And watching this sequel's trailer, more of the same has been shown and I'm not terribly excited about it to be honest - other than I get to see Kendrick singing again.
I hope to see less of how directors employ the same techniques in featuring different strengths of other teams in all these young adult competition movies like Step Up, Bring It On, or even as far back as Mighty Ducks - which were in abundance in the trailer. How about something fresh and new?
