Rocky Gets A Very Interesting Spin-Off
Sylvester Stallone's Rocky Balboa is getting a very interesting spin-off. Titled Creed, this looks like a reboot of the franchise instead.
Under the studio MGM, the story goes like this. Centering around Apollo Creed's grandson, Adonis, who will be played by Michael B. Jordan; the story tells of how Adonis will not be discouraged from the boxing ring because of his innate skill and passion for it. And so Rocky reluctantly becomes Adonis's trainer.
Apollo Creed, who was played by Carl Weathers, became good friends with Rocky back in Rocky and Rocky II. But he was then killed off by Dolph Lundgren's character in Rocky IV. Hence Rocky's hesitation for Adonis to put on the gloves.
Stallone will be producing once again, but he's gotten Fruitvale Station's director, Ryan Coogler - who almost directed Jordan in that movie to an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. The movie also garnered multiple awards.
Therefore, making this spin-off, titled Creed, not just a simple Rocky VII or merely for novelty's sake; but as an actual well-thought out and well-produced movie. Could it be the rebirth of a Rocky that could go on to win Oscars as well?
