After Roberto Orci has parted ways with Star Trek 3 - as a director (he's still one of the main writers), Paramount has found a new director almost 3 weeks later.
Justin Lin has been reported to take up the challenge and attempt to fill the shoes left behind by J. J. Abrams.
To Lin's credit, he has directed 4 installments of The Fast And The Furious franchise ever since Tokyo Drift, before James Wan took over for Furious 7.
This is definitely a giant step up for Lin. A bigger budget, a bigger movie, a bigger franchise. He's also the reason that the Fast And Furious franchise lasted this long. Let's see if he can do the same for Star Trek.
