Assassin's Creed Gets New Release Date
Fret no more because 20th Century Fox has announced a new release date for Assassin's Creed - the live-action adaptation from Ubisoft's popular gaming series.
The initial delay came in September last year when Assassin's Creed was booted off this summer's release date of August, which was promptly taken over by Fantastic Four. This caused some fans to panic as there was no follow-up date given at the time, leading many to speculate that the whole project, even with Michael Fassbender attached to play the lead role, was dead in the water.
The new date is now fixed at 21 December 2016, and will be able to enjoy the spill-over from the Star Wars spin-off movie (still no title at this point) which is set to release a week earlier. Being so close to the Christmas break, movie-goers who are unable to get a ticket to watch the Star Wars spin-off will be able to opt for Assassin's Creed, which may not be such a bad trade-off.
Even though under 20th Century Fox, Ubisoft retains all creative control through its Ubisoft Motion Pictures group - a move to set up a movie arm that has becoming popular among some of the gaming production houses.
