Blade Runner Sequel Confirmed With Ford
After much fuss and rumours, it's finally confirmed. The Blade Runner sequel is now looking for a director and has signed Harrison Ford to the movie to reprise his role from 1982.
Ridley Scott will also be back to executive produce the movie which is scheduled to start filming in the summer of 2016.
As for the director, Denis Villeneuve who directed the Oscar nominated movies Prisoners and Incendies, is close to signing on.
I believe this movie is on the right track. Villeneuve is a very interesting director to watch. I loved his Prisoners and haven't had a chance to see another critically acclaimed movie, Enemy. But what he brought to Prisoners, the suspense and thrills, could lend itself very well to sci-fi.
Also, with Scott not having a hit for a long time now, it's probably better for him not to direct this, though I'm surprised he isn't directing for the same reason too!
And when you have Ford back and excited about this, you've already have half the marketing battle won.
