Academy Award winner, Diablo Cody, has been hired by Sony Pictures to take another pass at their Barbie script.
Barbie is one of toy-maker Mattel's biggest assets, and seeing as how The Lego Movie has so successfully increased their worldwide sales in Lego, everyone now is going to want a piece of that.
But Sony not only has Barbie on its horizon, a new Masters Of The Universe is also in the works.
Cody is an interesting choice for this project. Her previous work such as Juno and Young Adult, and even Jennifer's Body, do not really scream a clean and wholesome Barbie, but the producers which now include Amy Pascal, are probably looking at the female empowerment angle.
No release date as of yet for this project.
