Horror Franchise The Ring Goes For Another Sequel

Hard to believe that the 1998 Japanese horror blockbuster, Ringu by director Hideo Nakata, still has a presence in Hollywood today.

Reported earlier this month that Paramount Pictures is making another movie from The Ring franchise, but that report stated that it would be a prequel. At the time, it seemed like a good choice if we could see the origin of the accursed video tape, and still keeping in that era where video tapes were popular.

But today, the director helming the new project, titled Rings, F. Javier Guttierez announced on his Twitter account that the sequel titled Rings will in fact be a continuation from the first two movies - The Ring released in 2002 and directed by Gore Verbinski, and The Ring 2 directed by Nakata in 2005.

Rings, as stated in Guttierez's Tweet, will be set 13 years after the original movie. Does this mean the video tape format has been transferred online? Does this mean Samara will be crawling out of your 13-inch computer screen, or even your 6-inch mobile phone?

All will be answered when the movie is released on 13 November 2015, with a script rewritten by Academy Award winner, Akiva Goldsman.
