Joseph Kosinski Returns To Direct TRON 3
Back in 2010, fans of TRON rejoiced when TRON: Legacy was brought to the silver screen with the original star Jeff Bridges handing the mantle to Garrett Hedlund. However, both audiences' and critics' response were just lukewarm.
But for those fans who want another Tron movie, it's time to rejoice once again as Disney has announced this week a TRON 3 movie. And the director is none other than TRON: Legacy helmer, Joseph Kosinski.
Kosinski has only directed two movies so far. The aforementioned and also Tom Cruise's Oblivion which was not well received. I actually quite enjoyed that even though there were many flaws in the movie.
But I never would have guessed that Disney would want Kosinski back due to the responses for his movies. This must mean that Disney is very confident with Kosinski's vision for this new Tron movie because they are taking quite a risk by going back to this franchise.
To be fair to Kosinski, I thought the direction wasn't and the visuals in Legacy weren't so much the problem when compared to the story. So here's hoping Disney get better writers for TRON 3.
So far, Hedlund is reported to being as confirmed to return, while co-star Olivia Wilde and Bridges should not be far behind. Even Cillian Murphy, who had a tiny role in Legacy, may return as well. No word yet on a release date.
