The Leviathan Picked Up By Fox, Kinberg, Blomkamp

This basically is a Godzilla that flies.

Ruairi Robinson, nominated for an Oscar for his animation in the Best Short Film category, titled "Fifty Percent Grey", put out a short clip and concept art online for his new creation, The Leviathan.

It gained traction immediately, to the point where, just a few days ago, Simon Kinberg and Neill Blomkamp quickly jumped on it to produce a full-length feature movie.

Kinberg, who is heavily involved with Marvel properties at Fox (all X-Men and Fantastic Four titles); and Blomkamp, who is a pro at sci-fi, seems like a fantastic combination to bring The Leviathan to the silver screen.

Today, it is reported that Fox has snatched up the rights to the script to the film written by Fight Club scribe, Jim Uhls.

The trailer released by Robinson does look impressive. And I'm totally intrigued by the monster he created. And given that Godzilla and Pacific Rim did relatively well, there is a demand for these gigantic battles.

The Leviathan should be in development soon enough.
