Spielberg Attached To Yet Another Movie, Ready Player One

Is Steven Spielberg getting busier by the day? Is there a competition between him and Martin Scorsese that we don't know about?

Spielberg's name is attached to yet another project and this time it's the ever popular geek novel, Ready Player One, published in 2011 by Ernest Cline. The movie is being produced at Warner Bros. together with Village Roadshow.

The story is set in the not-so-distant future of 2044, where the world has ran out of natural resources. Those who are able, they spend their waking hours hooked into this virtual world called OASIS where one can be whatever and whoever one wants to be. The hook is that the creator of OASIS has left a treasure hunt of sorts. Anyone who can find the answers to riddles he's scattered all over the virtual world will assume control of his creation and fortune.

I've never read this book, but the synopsis sounds so interesting that I would pick it up if I have can find a slot for it in my list of books to read.

Spielberg is reportedly set to direct this after directing Roald Dahl's The BFG, set to be released on 1 July 2016. So for now, we can expect Ready Player One to be released in 2017. But where, then, will he have time for Jennifer Lawrence's It's What I Do, about wartime photographer Lynsey Addario; which is based on her memoir.

Spielberg's immediate next movie sees him pairing up with Tom Hanks once again in a spy thriller set in the cold war, where Hanks plays a lawyer recruited by the CIA on a rescue mission into the Soviet Union. Bridge Of Spies will be released 16 October 2015.
