Back in November, it was confirmed that there will be a Toy Story 4; with new writers creating a new story.
Two days ago we found out what that new story will focus on. Pixar president Jim Morris was being reported as saying Toy Story 4 "will be a love story. It will be a romantic comedy. It will not put much focus on the interaction between the characters and children."
One of the key elements of the original trilogy has been the interaction of characters and children. So moving away from it, while feels necessary, may just be sub par or "just another movie" at this point.
Let's see what the writing team between Rashida Jones and Will McCormack can come up with.
