Johnny Depp oozes with charisma and danger in every scene from this trailer, and he doesn't look like Johnny Depp at all. Now this is acting!
Depp has not impressed in a long time other than putting on more and more makeup for a role. So now with a character-study and some method acting, we may finally see Depp pushing boundaries once more.
The trailer's main focus was the dinner table, and just that brief exchange between him and David Harbour gave us more than a glimpse of his character, and not to mention the intensity of Harbour's performance too.
Let's hope that the movie itself and Depp's portrayal of Whitey Bulger - one of the most notorious gangsters in the U.S. - will be even better than what we are seeing from this trailer.
Also starring a very competent cast including Dakota Johnson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Joel Edgerton, Kevin Bacon, Juno Temple and Corey Stoll. Directed by Scott Cooper, who is well known for Jeff Bridges' Oscar win in Crazy Heart, and also Out Of The Furnace; he and this movie has the potential to give Depp another Oscar nomination!
Black Mass will be out on 18 September 2015.
