This Sinister sequel feels so different from the original movie. Other than the movie reels, nothing felt familiar.
I had to look up the first one to jog my memory. The original Sinister was co-written and directed by Scott Derrickson who is very busy now with Marvel and Disney's Doctor Strange starring Benedict Cumberbatch.
Sinister 2, though also written by the same team, is now directed by Ciaran Foy, whose other full-length feature is another horror, Citadel.
Why this trailer didn't remind me of the first one was because the scares were a bit too obvious and in-your-face. I remembered the first one had a bit more class. But I could be completely wrong and it's just how this trailer was cut.
I have to say, though, it's cut quite well. There are a couple of really scary moments in there. Hopefully, Foy will be able to have that same kind of mood and tone as Derrickson.
Starring Shannyn Sossamon (I wonder what happened to her), Sinister 2 will be released on 21 August 2015.
