Yesterday, director Roland Emmerich brought out his cast for the upcoming sequel to Independence Day for a Q&A session from the Albuquerque set. The whole video can be viewed on the 20th Century Fox YouTube page below.
The confirmed cast is made up of Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Jessie Usher, Liam Hemsworth, Sela Ward, Maika Monroe, Angelababy and Brent Spiner. Charlotte Gainsbourg is the only absentee.
It is definitely a trend now with big blockbuster movies to include an actor from the North Asia region like China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. This definitely plays into the publicity stunt to gain more attention in the region where the actor is from, but also gives these actors a chance to shine outside of their language and nationality.
Also released today is the official release of the title for the sequel, which is Independence Day Resurgence.
The movie will be out on 24 June 2016.
