Ben Affleck Writing And Directing For Next Batman Movie
It has been speculated ever since Ben Affleck was cast as Batman for Batman v Superman: The Dawn Of Justice, that Warner Bros. had their sights set on giving the director's chair to Affleck for the next chapter in Batman's solo movie.
Today, Deadline brought word that this is now confirmed!
Not only will Affleck be directing, but he will also be co-writing the script with Geoff Johns.
Saying Johns is no stranger to the DC world would be a huge understatement. Johns is the DC's chief creative officer and has written for many DC titles including all the major ones like Superman, Batman, The Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern and Justice League.
He has also written for many episodes of TV's "The Flash and "Arrow", even as far back as "Smallville" and also some other DC property TV movies and video games as well. He will also have a hand in 2019's Shazam.
Affleck has been one of the biggest Batman fans, having even built a Batman Cave in his mansion! He's a long-time comic book fan and we can rest assured that he will definitely stay true to the Batman character and lore from the comic books and bring a new version of Batman to the silver screen.
Having won so many accolades for directing Argo, will Affleck be the one to finally bring a comic book movie to the Best Picture nomination in the Oscars, and win it?
Let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. DC and Warner Bros. still have to let us know when they will slot the next Batman movie into their already very packed schedule.
