The first of its kind for a movie marketing campaign, I'm sure. Lucasfilm has released an official Star Wars app so that fans can stay connected from news regarding their upcoming movies to other fun things to be had with the app itself.
Unfortunately for me, this isn't available "in my country". Some licensing restrictions once again. Bah.
Some of the features include:
- Instant notifications on major announcements like trailer releases.
- Multiple themes for the app.
- Augmented Reality camera for unlocking 3D characters for The Force Awakens.
- Original art of different planets.
- Shareable animated GIFs from memorable scenes from the movies and TV shows.
- Play sound clips and sound effects.
- Create an avatar by signing up a handle and join a growing community of fans.
- And many more.
